It is a truth universally acknowledged...

...That the month which contains so much love-themed commercialism leaves book lovers in want of Pride and Prejudice. One of my favorite light reads last year was Prom and Prejudice, which our Book Lady blogged about here. It's a modern-day update set in a prep school, with way more coffee.

Another fun one is Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which mashes up the original with a fast-paced zombie invasion. If you're a Liz trying to get your Mr. Darcy to put down the video game controller and pick up a book, this might work!

If you ardently love and admire the original, we've got you covered, too. First, if you're a true fan, or if you need to seem like enough of a fan to write brilliant paper, check out the annotated edition. It has the full book, plus a ton of interesting trivia, context, and analysis. Or how about this broodingly handsome illustrated edition that I spotted on the shelf the other day?

Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg. What about Bridget Jones' Diary? The BBC miniseries with Colin "Wet T-Shirt Contest" Firth? The Bollywood adaptation? The vampire version? The Keira Knightly movie? The always-available ebook? Just head back over to our catalog and search away, and you'll find plenty of P&P-related goodness to last you past Valentine's Day.
